Things to Buy

Connect your agent

Your lists, research and buying instructions stay in Things to Buy. Connect an agent to help you work with the same saved context.

Manage your connected agents

Give your agent this guide

Send this URL to Muse, Claude or ChatGPT and ask it to follow the instructions to connect your Things to Buy account:

https://app.thingstobuy.ai/agents

The guide is plain text, written for the agent. It covers discovery, client registration, account linking and a read-only connection check.

Connecting with Muse

Temporary mobile setup workaround: For now, please complete Things to Buy account linking in Muse in a web browser or the Muse desktop app. You can then return to the mobile app to use the connection.

Custom-connector linking currently fails in the Muse iPhone app after sign-in. The desktop path was tested on macOS; Android linking has not been verified. Keep any working connection.

Linking in Safari on iPhone

Start from Muse in Safari. If sign-in does not open, temporarily turn off Safari’s Block Pop-ups setting, then restore it after linking.

If the return from sign-in opens Muse and linking fails, use the desktop app, or choose Safari for the callback domain before starting a fresh flow. For the tested Muse callback, put https://agent.meta.ai/api/hatch/oauth/callback in Notes, long-press it and choose Open in Safari. This link contains no sign-in code; opening it alone does not connect your account.

Then start a new connection from Muse in Safari. Do not copy or edit the sign-in return URL containing your code. Choosing Safari changes that domain’s link-opening preference; you can reverse it with the same Notes link choices.

Ask Muse to set up a connection named Things to Buy, obtain and configure the client ID for you, and request all four permissions below. Muse should inspect its available MCP or custom-connector support and the server’s OAuth discovery before starting.

You complete account sign-in and approve access in the linking page it opens. If the app requires a Client ID to be pasted manually, Muse should provide the public ID it obtained and explain that step. If it cannot complete setup, it should tell you exactly what is missing.

If your agent requires you to add a remote MCP server in its settings, use https://app.thingstobuy.ai/mcp with OAuth account sign-in.

Permissions you can approve

The full-workspace setup requests:

buylist:read buylist:write buylist:buy buylist:admin

  • Read lists and research (buylist:read): View your saved items, research, prices and buying instructions.
  • Save and organize your list (buylist:write): Add and edit items, research and notes; organize lists and categories when your plan allows.
  • Manage buying instructions (buylist:buy): Set or change buying rules you request and record purchase progress and outcomes.
  • Manage account preferences and access (buylist:admin): Update your preferences and revoke sign-ins or agent connections. This does not grant Beta admin access.

These permissions govern access to your Things to Buy account. All requested permissions start selected; uncheck any you do not want to grant. If a connector requests only three, the linking page shows only those three.

Manage each connection later in Agents. Adding a permission you did not previously approve requires a fresh linking flow.

After connecting

Your agent should confirm that it can read your account and lists before claiming the connection works. You can then send it a product link, photo or buying need.

Connecting does not turn on buying for an item, authorize a purchase or create a schedule. Your agent follows your explicit buying instructions and handles checkout and any approvals it requires.
